Finding the right person to listen and understand your struggles around pregnancy or getting pregnant can be difficult.
Talking with friends and family you may get advice that is neither helpful nor wanted. Going through pregnancy can be a difficult road with many choices, frustrations, and thoughts that lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, or self doubt.
When working with someone on infertility issues you want someone that can speak the language, understanding the side effects, procedures, and medical choices you are facing. Next you are looking for someone that can understand your emotional and mental struggles above all else. It’s not only important to understand the medical part of infertility but equally if not more important to understand the emotional part. These types of issues can turn your world upside down; make things in your life that previously brought you pleasure and happiness, now you hid from. This can be an emotional roll a coaster and finding help in a safe environment of no judgments and complete understanding is important.
If you are already pregnant or have recently given birth you continue to ride an emotional roll coaster and may need more support then ever. Many feelings and emotions surround this new change in life leading to areas of stress, worry, feelings of being alone, anxiety, etc. Depression is common during pregnancy and post pregnancy and support are essential during this time.
In areas around women’s health I use emotionally focused therapy techniques, mindfulness and many expressive tools to help give my clients tools and support they need to get through these times. I am truly passionate about working with this population as I feel there is much needed support at this time that is not always available to my clients.
